This theme examines China’s evolving developmental roles in the Asia–Pacific region and their implications for regional governance and multilateral engagement. It explores how higher education, migration, outbound enterprise, and overseas Chinese communities shape mobility, social inclusion, and people-to-people connectivity. It also investigates China’s governance engagement with Global South partners, including in cross-border fraud and resource governance, focusing on regulatory frameworks, institutional cooperation, and accountability in transnational development activities.
